Still early in the season, but this is still our happiest of happy places. We love it here. Since we live 20 miles away, we frequent the area when the tourist traffic is low. Nothing wrong with tourists, but easier to find parking early and late in the season!
We had a tiny cabin in a bad state of repair. The shower is so small you can't bend over to wash your feet. The tiny shelf over the bathroom sink sticks out so far you can't wash your face at the sink. There is deteriorating wood in the bathroom and on the outside of the building. The stove burners are so slanting on the stove that you have a hard time keeping a pan on them. The bathroom door drags the floor and makes a noise guaranteed to wake you up during the night. The kitchen is so small it is hard for 2 people to be in it at the same time. The kitchen utensils consists of two or three forks, spoons and a knife or two. They ask you to wash your own dishes and of course there is no dish washer. The coffee pot is a joke. The ice machine is an ice chest near the check in area (but it was usually full of ice). There is no air conditioning, the parking lot is dusty dirt. (This all applies to cabin 45 in August 2017 but the all look about the same) We didn't see any happy smiling faces while we wee there.
We rented a 2 bedroom cabin for one night and couldn't get out fast enough. The bathroom must have years of water damage because the whole place smelled of mold. We opened all the windows and tried to breathe fresh air but it was impossible to mitigate the festering mold. The door water damaged as well so wouldn't open/close properly. Total dump. The only plus is view and location but I would have preferred camping vs. being stuck inside moldy cabin. We stayed in a Lake McDonald Lodge cabin the next night and it was wonderful. This place needs to be gutted...
You gonna love it there. You just have to. Honestly. Staff is very friendly and was a great help when my daughter lost her phone. Food is good. You have a great spot to start your nature adventures. Lake Mc Donald is a little chilling, but great for snorkeling. And it has some warm spots as well. Oh.. And be sure to check out for Jack Gladstone performances at Lake Mc Donald Lodge. Just a few minutes by car. Thanks to all at Apgar who made our stay just wow.
Just had a quick picnic and rented some watercraft. Staff was super friendly! Gift shop prices were a little steep though
Awesome place to be
